  I was a member of Heights Baptist Church from Sept. 1983 to May of 1984. The pastor, Dr. Charles Darling, Jr. is one of the most godly men that I have ever come into contact with. My wife and I were new converts and he came over to our apartment (we were newlyweds) and he sat down at our kitchen table (we had little else) and told us, "the thing you want to remember to do everyday is to read your Bible and pray; read your Bible and pray." I cannot tell you how much that simple advice has guided me through some of the darkest times one could imagine. Suffice to say, the interest and love of a Godly pastor, has made a lifetime of difference for me as a Christian. I hope to be able to contact Pastor Charles and tell him how much I apreciated his pastoring of us while we lived in Laredo for a short time. God bless you.
